Seven-minute gameplay video of Type-0 gets out
Famitsu’s gone up with a seven-minute long gameplay video of Final Fantasy Type-0 after the game’s announcement of a release date earlier this morning. Game director Hajime Tabata is the one behind the stick and doing the honours on commentary. Bear in mind it’s moonspeak, so don’t expect to understand too much – or anything – at all. Get it after the break.
Final Fantasy Type-0 launches on October 13 in Japan for PSP with two UMDs. Thanks, Andriasang.

Shadows of the Damned director Guarini leaves Grasshopper
The director on Shadows of the Damned, Massimo Guarini, has left developer Grasshopper Manufacture. Guarini has seemingly set up a brand new studio called Ovosonico Productions, which will be based on “Games, Music, Films with an attitude,” according to a slogan for a placeholder website for the studio. Shadows of the Damned was released last month by EA Partners, but didn’t resound too well in sales.
Thanks, GameSpot.

Bethesda on not-quite-successes: “Nothing is a hundred percent in this industry”
The top of the charts is hardly Bethesda’s Everest. The ever-growing publisher has scaled those lofty heights time and time again – typically clinging to the back of something Fallout or Elder Scrolls-related. Nobody’s perfect, though. For every Fallout 3, there’s a WET or Rogue Warrior. And Pete Hines is refreshingly honest about that. Don’t think, however, that he regrets the time, money, and resources his company put into those geese that laid regular eggs.

Final Fantasy Type-0 finally dated… in Japan
After zillions of years in development and a full-blown platform switcheroo, the finish line is finally in sight for Final Fantasy Type-0. Andriasang reports that Square Enix has given the tamely named (at least, in comparison to Theatrhythm and [duodecim]) RPG a Japanese release date of October 13. It’s tipping the scales at two UMDs, too, so it’ll carry a higher-than-normal 7700 yen price tag.
Catch a celebratory five-minute trailer after the break. Sadly, it’s not just five minutes of characters striking victory poses. Oh for the good old days…

Playtesting ‘dominates’ Valve’s development process
Valve has said playtesting is the most vital part of its development process – so much so, that it hooks testers up to machines to measure their responses.
