Folks behind The Fighter to create a film based on The Darkness
Mandeville Films, the Walt Disney-affiliated production company behind The Fighter, will be developing a film based on Top Cow’s graphic novel, The Darkness. The news was confirmed at Comic-Con today to the L.A. Times by a spokesperson for Mandeville, who said David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce, while David Manpearl and Top Cow’s Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins will be the executive producers. The firm and Top Cow previously brokered deals for graphic novels Alib and Crosshair. Meanwhile, the Darkness II game has been moved into 2012, as we’ve previously reported.

Turbine has releases some screens from the LotRO fall expansion, Rise of Isengard, showing off the area of Dunland located in the foothills of the southern Misty Mountains. It is infested with Dunland Clans, rugged warriors tempted by “the dark promise of power,” and probably other stuff you will want to slash with your sword more than once. Baverstock: Nintendo “completely obsessed with retail,” Iwata’s GDC speech was “smack talk”

Sony: Bonus content included in ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Brian Dunn, Sony’s associate product marketing manager, has said on the PS Blog that the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection for PS3 will come with a voucher for two XMB Dynamic Themes, one for ICO and one for Shadow of the Colossus. The disc will also include video content from ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. More information on the collection is promised soon. The collection, which includes full 1080p HD and stereoscopic 3D support, 7.1 surround sound, and full PSN Trophy support for $39.99 hits stores on September 27.
