NBA 2K12 getting three covers featuring Jordan, Bird and Johnson
2K Sports has announced NBA 2K12 will offer three separate covers featuring Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

The covers will spotlight each legendary player on his famous team: the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Lakers, respectively. The covers featuring Bird and Johnson will be available at launch in a limited quantity.
NBA 2K11, which featured Michael Jordan as the cover athlete, sold over 5 million units worldwide and garnered over 20 video game accolades, including 14 Sports Game of the Year honors, according to 2K.
“Bringing Michael Jordan to the virtual hardwood last year was a huge success for NBA 2K11; however, we didn’t want to stop there,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “We’re bringing ‘His Airness’ back to the NBA 2K franchise as part of a multi-year extended partnership, along with two other legendary icons – Larry Bird and Magic Johnson – for a special cover athlete collection representing the NBA’s greatest heroes.”
NBA 2K12 can now be pre-ordered from retailers nationwide, and will be available on October 4 for PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.

I think you got that backwards. Larry Bird was underrated because he was white. If a black player had Larry’s game, he’d have the same public aura Michael and Magic has. He had a better jumper than both, was a better rebounder and defender than both, and was as good a passer as Magic. Michael was more athletic and Magic had the highest basketball IQ but Larry Bird was tougher and probably worked harder than both on both ends of the floor.

Larry Bird had a great jumper and was a fierce competitor. He wasn’t a defensive stopper by any stretch of the imagination. He would make some crucial defensive plays here and there. He was a average rebounder. He didn’t work harder or was tougher than Jordan. He looked like it because he wasn’t as athletic Jordan. Jordan was always a first team defensive player. Magics records for assists and triple doubles speaks for himself.

Magic is the best to ever touch a basketball. He totally redefined the game. All the fancy shit these guys do now started with magic. Jordan is great too, but he didn’t change the game, he was just the best of his time. Bird is a beast, but in a game where athleticism is everything you need more than a great jumper to beat out magic or Jordan.
