Orcs Must Die to hit PC and XBLA care of Microsoft

Microsoft will publish Robot Entertainment’s Orcs Must Die, the developer has announced.

“Players on both Xbox Live Arcade and PCs will get their chance to massacre orcs by the thousands soon. We’re excited that Microsoft shares our orc bloodlust and will publish the game,” Robot CEO Patrick Hudson said, as reported by Gamasutra.

The game arrives on both systems in late August or early September.

Robot Entertainment has a strong relationship with Microsoft, counting several ex-Halo staffers among its ranks and developing Age of Empires Online before Gas Powered Games took over.

Microsoft is apparently on a bit of a strategy trip, having picked up Skulls of the Shogun from Haunted Temple Studios – a team of former Command & Conquer developers.

Microsoft seem to be hoovering up downloadable games again. That’s two in as many days.

#1 I guess Micorsoft is in desperate need of core exclusives. It’s sad they chose the strategy genre, it doesn’t work on console and should be played on pc.

Skulls should work fine, it’s turn-based rather than real-time. And this looks to be more tower defence than ‘strategy’, it looks a bit like a swords and sorcery version of Trenched.
