PSA: Old QuakeCon forum details compromised

The latest games-related hacking attempt saw the compromise of a retired QuakeCon forum. Past users should consider re-securing any related log-ins.

The QuakeCon website broke the bad news that forums.quakecon.org had suffered an attack "in recent days", "compromising usernames and passwords".

"We recommend anyone using their old credentials on another site to change their passwords immediately," it advised.

If you had an account on the old Quakecon forums, have a think about whether you used that password anywhere else and take steps to ensure your other log-ins are safe.

QuakeCon is id Software's annual fan event, and this year runs from August 7 to 11 in Dallas, Texas.
