Halfbrick joins forces with award-winning animation studio

Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick has partially acquired The People's Republic of Animation, the studio behind the Nick Cave-narrated short film The Cat Piano and prominent advertising campaigns.

The independent developer announced the partnership in a press release this morning, saying the move would "strengthen Halfbrick's production capabilities".

The first project the two studios will team up on is a trailer for Machine Gun Jetpack, Halfbrick's new mobile title, due later this year.

The People's Republic of Animation CEO Sam White said Halfbrick "simply breeds success".

"We are very excited to be a part of Halfbrick, both to work with them to create exciting new gaming IP, and to continue to establish PRA one of the world's leading animation studios."

The People's Republic of Animation also produced shorts for THQ's de Blob 2, Sony's ModNation Racers, and several non-industry advertising campaigns.
