Award-winning science fiction author Orson Scott Card is behind the plot of Firefall, Red 5 has revealed.

In a developer diary posted to the games’ blog, and embedded below, Red 5 CEO Mark Kern said the Ender’s Game author is on board to develop the plot developed by the team.

The backstory co-developed by the studio and Card will spill over into a free manga penned by Card’s daughter Emily Card.

Card also counts indie smash hit Shadow Complex among his substantial bibliography.

A free multiplayer shooter, Firefall is due for release on PC at the end of the year.
