Cologne to host PES World Finals 2011

Konami has announced it will hold its annual PES World Finals in Cologne this year alongside gamescom.

The Finals will bring the current PES 2011 season to an end, and PES players will be gathering together for a "knock-out tournament," with entrants from America, Asia, and Europe battling it out August 17 -19. The tournament will open with a party at Cologne’s KölnSky venue and will be followed by the tournament.

Konami's been hosting these PES competitions for over a decade, and each major territory has official leagues used to determine the World Final competitors, and close to 30 players are expected to take part this year.

“gamescom welcomes thousands of ardent video game fans to Cologne, so it is a fitting venue for the end of the PES 2011 season,” offered Martin Schneider, GM of Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We expect competition to be fierce at this year’s competition – especially with the eyes of gamescom attendees on them all.”

Attendees will all compete on the PS3 version of PES 2011.
