Report – Sony “quietly testing” new PSN redesign
Sony is currently “quietly testing” a new PSN redesign, according to a new report.

RegHardware said that the new look will “transform the online environment into a more image-driven layout along the lines of Xbox Live and Steam.”
It says that both the PS Store in games and movies are going to take an IMDB-like database approach.
A new deals of the week section is also apparently in the pipeline.
Looks like that blueish colour’s going out the window as well. RegHardware says it’ll be replaced by “ultra bright colours on a black background.”
All of this follows PSN’s downtime back in April due to an external intrusion.
SCEE told VG247 it wouldn’t “comment on rumours and speculation.”

PSN ≠ PS Store
Your headline and intro is misleading.

^See, this it what happens when your headlines aren’t clear. Everything in the original post reads like it refers only to the Playstation store, not the XMB or even the basic online functionality.

about time, PS store is worst laid out of the online stores, Steam is the best.

I don’t expect something revolutionary here in the system that can’t even do proper multitasking.

I like the layout fine, ‘image-driven layout’ makes me think that we’re idiots! I’d like the the option to retain the current layout

@11: True, but that doesn’t make it less misleading.

Those facilities already exist – it’s down to the content providers to actually supply then though.

Good Cos I don’t like it. Its so much easier to find everything Xbox live. Don’t like the sound of bright colours on a black background, not exactly complimentary.

@10 Where does Sony say that all i see is a quote from a website. But Troll likes to troll.
But if they did say thas its no more proof they admit to not being as good as the competion as MS is when they start doing everything they used to crtiticse of their competitors (cartoon avatars, motion contrl, 3D, non-gaming applicatons…)

I don’t know why they have to redesign the PSN, for some people is annoyed, for other people, S.S.D.D. i bet Sony will come with an update… 3.67

@7 Oh yeh, because i never sit at my Ps3 and browse the internet with my music playing aswell, Name another console that can do that??
Anyways a re-design sounds great, Psn isnt really the easiest interface to use.

When Sony gives no comment, means they are up to something. If this was false, they would simply say, currently we are not working on anything for the PSN makeover or redesign.. etc etc
