ESRB rates Crysis for PS3 and 360, EA refuses to comment
After the KRB posted a listing on Friday, the ESRB in the US has now rated a console version of Crysis.

The listing shows it for PS3, as well as the earlier-spotted 360 SKU.
Crytek has yet to reply to our request for comment, but EA has given VG247 a “no comment” on the matter.
This is starting to snowball a bit now.
The game had launched on PC in 2007, but had never appeared on PS3 and 360. Crysis 2, however, launched on all three platforms in March this year.

‘No comment’ eh?
Right. I smell a CryEngine 3 butcherifcation of Crysis 1 for the console folk then.

Seems a bit weird that they would do this, even. Wouldn’t it have been better to do it before Crysis 2?

Perhaps. Maybe they are more comfortable with the tech now? Either way, this would need to be the ‘Maximum Edition’ of the game or come out at a slightly lower price point.
Money for old rope and all that.

I want to see this and laugh at this.
Come on. Show us gameplay footage. Better with sandbox in it

@6 Funny thing is Crysis 2 is more linear because of console limmitation and now they are going to release Crysis 1 its going to be EPIC FAIL !

The more people that can play this, the better. I was late to the party on Crysis and enjoyed it quite a bit recently.
I suppose the console versions will be plagued with loading screens and low res textures and such but I think if they can pull it off it should still be enjoyable to play.

Crysis 1 is just boring for mainstream console gamers. There are no scripted events after every step, they may get lost in the open world and there even aren’t any flashing icons to show the stealth routes.

You’re right. It was 2007. D’oh.

@14: It also doesn’t help that the game is boring as shit and the gunplay is even worse.
I’m really interested how they are going to pull this one off. I’m hoping for a better game. Sandbox is fun and all, but boring if there’s nothing in it to play with.

“EA refuses to comment”
Ummmmmmmmm, Because it’s not like it being rated by the KRB and the ERSB means anything…
I hate when companies do “refuse to comment” or “don’t comment on rumors” etc, it’s like if we don’t say anything maybe people will stop talking about it.
Face it, it’s official. People should stop generalizing console gamers also.. I’m really excited for this because I never got the chance to play it since my pc isn’t the best that’s why I play on consoles for games.
@14 Yeah maybe some of the kids out there who are “UB3R L33T” at cod and don’t know shit about games and only experience with cod is from mw2 onwards..

@17: So what if their first game was CoD? That’s not your business. You’re the perfect example of the PC elitists everybody is making fun of.
To be honest i had way more fun with CoD than Crysis.

Yup, Crysis was pants. Pretty pants, but pants none the less.
Cunts with PCs are the same as cunts with any other platform, though. CoD is the most popular shooter on the PC since Counter-Strike and FTP Team Fortress 2, so obviously the tastes aren’t that different, except for the fact that PC gamers prefer MW2 to Black Ops.
Which is more than slightly ironic, since Black Ops gave the PC whiners what they wanted by doing away with the matchmaker.

@19: To be fair Matchmaking isn’t Black Ops problem. Gameplay, Maps and Weapons are.

@YoungZer0 He’s not saying CoD being their first game is a problem…he’s saying people playing MW2 onwards don’t know anything else besides these gigantic set pieces that basically make up the entire ultra linear SP campaign…
@DSB Yeah the only problem was that Black Ops is an inferior game to MW2…both visually and gameplay wise

Yeah, no doubt all the bugs scared some people away, but obviously the console audience doesn’t mind the style of the game.
We can’t see how many are playing on consoles, so I have no idea how close it might be, but MW2 has a fairly comfortable lead on the PC.
I’ve seen complaints on MW2 featuring everything from weapons being too precise, to killstreaks being too overpowered, to the totally unbeatable perks, to the matchmaker ruining the game – And essentailly Treyarch did the most populist thing they could, and toned it all down, and turned up the dispersion on the weapons. I think that’s the problem.
Fundamentally I think it’s a bad idea to listen to the people whining the loudest in the online jabberstream, instead of looking at what you actually got right. Even with all the whining, the numbers for the most recent games have been very consistent. Three CoDs in the top 10 on Xbox Live, two out of the top four shooters on Steam.
I think they confused actual complaints, with people just whining because those games became so popular.
