Uncharted once resembled Bioshock according to dev

According to a developer at Naughty Dog, the original Uncharted bore a surprising resemblance to Bioshock at one point early in development.

The co-president of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, said that early in the development process Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune took place inside an underwater facility which he compared to Bioshock.

It was apparently still in this state when it was pitched and accepted by Sony.

He joked about the irony of the fact that Bioshock once took place on a tropical island early in its own development.

Well you’r kindof in an underwater facility at the end if the game. It’s just that the underwater part is more underground. All the doors and walls felt like your in a submarine. But that was just a small portion of the game, the rest of it was jungle, jungle, old Aztecy stuff, jungle. It was nice when the second one came in with some actual variation like a city burning and a train track in snow, funny how in the first one they were saying how they wanted to get away from the same-old dingy halls but just turned it into same-old wet jungle.
