E3 2011 – Total MS and Sony press conference coverage

Final Fantasy hits 100 million shipped worldwide
Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy has now shipped 100 million units worldwide since the series’ inception back in 1987. It follows the last main canon title, XIII, last March, with a sequel now confirmed for early 2012 in the west. Fellow titles Versus XIII and Type-0 are still on the way, but status updates on them haven’t been provided at E3. The last Final Fantasy title full stop was fight em’up Dissidia 012 for PSP.

PSA: Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition out today
Capcom has announced the digital upgrade of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is now available for download on PS3 and Xbox 360. The add-on will also be made available as a standalone product at retailers across Europe on June 24 and North America on June 28. It will be released for PC in July.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 confirmed for early 2012 western launch
We missed this earlier. Sorry. Square Enix has confirmed a western early 2012 launch for Final Fantasy XIII-2. The timeline comes at the end of the game’s first proper trailer, shown at E3 from last night. The game is scheduled to release in December this year in Japan at least.
