TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled leaving the US on June 30
A notice on the PS Store has alerted PS3 users that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled will no longer be made available in the US come June 30.
According to a statement given to Joystiq by the game’s publisher, Ubisoft, it is being pulled due to an expired license.
If you were planning on playing it but never got around to it, you only have a few days left, so hop to it.
The TMNT: Turtles in Time revamp was “re-shelled” for PS3 and Xbox 360 and announced way back in January 2009.
It was released the following June on XBL followed by its PSN release.

Question.
What happens to those of us who bought it, then need a hard drive upgrade in a year or so and need to re-download it? Will it still be on our download list? Or did we pay for something that we can never have access to again?
Not really for this game in particular, but this greatly concerns me, and should concern all gamers today.

Good question. I’ll have to try that.
Seems like I should setup a master restore file via USB external drive to restore all my games purhcased encase this happens with other games in the future.

Not a huge loss, it’s not a very good game anyway. Stick with the 89 arcade game on XBLA.

^I’m more concerned about this becoming regular practice with digitally purchased games. Is there a method for retrieving them in the future or is it up to us to store them

If you downloaded it prior, you should be able to go to your download history and get it again otherwise you’re SOL. I think this will be somewhat common at least as long as licensing agreements begin to expire and such.
