Vita trailer shows off Near, Party, Alerts, more

Sony has released a new trailer for the PlayStation Vita, outlining the myriad ways it will make your gaming life more social. Bless.

The most interesting bit is probably Near, Sony's local content service. This hasn't been fully detailed yet, but the video shows two Vita's connecting, having found each other using the geographic service, and swapping content - a "treasure" is left on one.

It looks like Near may have elements in common with the 3DS's Street Pass, in which case, Sony should immediately commence marketing the s**t out of it.

You'll also get a brief look at LiveArea (news blades for individual games), Alerts (status updates and achievements), Party (chat and group forming), CrossPlay (Vita and PS3 cross-platform multiplayer), and AR games.

Thanks, Christopher Jack.
