Report – Xbox 360 moves 1.5 million LtD units in Japan

A report over on Japanese games site Wazap states that Xbox 360 has sold a total of 1.5 million units in the country.

In 2009, Xbox 360 hit the one million units sold mark, meaning since that time, it has moved an additional 500,000 units.

According to Media Create figures, as of the reporting week of June 6-12, 2011, units moved during the console’s lifetime in Japan hit 1,477,629.

So, unless the console moved an additional 22,371 units since Sunday, the 1.5 million units sales figure is incorrect – or Media Create’s LtD figures are a bit off.

We’ll send Microsoft a mail, and if we don’t hear back, we’ll have to see what next week’s Media Create sales state.

They could be using Enterbrain numbers, which are always slightly different.

Regardless…. not very impressive. And clicking on the Wazap link, you can kind of see why – it’s a whole other dimension over there!

@2 True. I sent a mail anyway for some clarification. Maybe Enterbrain will release some newer figures soon. I just wish there was one standard, official tracker for each region. I mean, I know the US has NPD, but sometimes its figures don’t jive with those of the publisher, and retailers, etc. Like, throw all the SKUs into one database as they are logged by the scanner. And then pull numbers from there. I dunno. Just talking out my ears I guess.

Its taken 3 years pope, because they already hit a million in 09 so .5 in 3 to equal 1.5mil. Seems like they need to make that system 50 bucks and up live in japan to start selling

^^It launched there in December 2005. Xbox 360 hit the million mark in Japan in March 2009, after three years and three months on shop shelves. The extra 500,000 sales have taken another two years and three months to notch up.

Do the math!!

Pope there was no need to do the math when I was making a snug remark. It was a form of humor to laugh at a 500k growth in 3years. Also, itsucks japs don’t go for consoles they are much more interested in portables so you fail at that one
