Rumor - Mass Effect 3 to feature four-player co-op

A report over on Eurogamer states that Mass Effect 3 will feature four-player, and this online-enabled mode is "standalone" and features "competitive elements".

The site understands that the mode will not compromise the single-player mode of the game, as the multiplayer is more akin to a Horde-style mode.

A separate source told Eurogamer BioWare Montreal was creating "a multiplayer Mass Effect experience," either as a "standalone game or component of Mass Effect 3."

When asked if the game had four-player co-op at E3, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said: "We haven't talked at all about multiplayer in the Mass Effect franchise, but we're exploring multiplayer in all of our games and all of our franchises."

"It's always an idea we're interested in," he said. "The short answer is we have no comment on that. But we're interested in the idea of multiplayer."

Mass Effect 3 is out in March next year, and the boxart has been released for it.

Check it out below. It looks the same for PC and PS3 as well, other than the logos, obviously.
