Rockstar vet forms new indie studio in Edinburgh
Former Rockstar designer Anthony Gowland has opened a new indie studio in Edinburgh called Mainly About Games, and it will focus on web-based and mobile games.

The first project from the studio is a puzzle-platformer for the web called Tealy & Orangey.
“With the varied distribution opportunities now available to developers, it felt like the perfect time to move away from AAA development,” said Gowland in a statement.
“It’s totally viable for a small team, or even a single dedicated guy, to create and market a successful game independently. My passion is in creating small titles that have solid gameplay hooks and big budget polish.”
Mainly About Games will also offer consultancy services.
Gowland was at Rockstar for six years where he was both a senior and lead designer on titles like GTA: Chinatown Wars and Red Dead Redemption.

Fair play the man if he wants to go off and do something different I would say, No?
Better for us in the long run having different types of games rather than loads of sequels, not that I am not totally excited for GTA V, I totally am.

Another one-man “studio” is exactly what the industry needs right now. Looking forward to excessive amounts of Twitter-spam and self promotion, all centred on the same game he’s been shopping around forever.
