Microsoft preparing Kinect-driven advertising
A new trademark filing suggests Microsoft is prepping interactive, Kinect-powered advertising.

TechieBuzz turned up the trademark, filed on Monday, for something called NUADS:
“Advertising services, namely, promoting and marketing the goods and services of others through online interactive video games by enabling consumers to interact with third-party advertising content through voice or body gestures via computer game console and sensor devices”
Yes, that sounds a lot like waving at Kinect, in-game or on your dashboard, in order to better enjoy commercials. Hit the duck, win an iPhone?
The service’s name may be a convenient (and pathetically humorous) contraction of Microsoft’s current buzz phrase, Natural User Interface, and, obviously, “advertisements”.
Gamers have been traditionally reluctant to stomach in-game advertising, with the industry remaining generally pessimistic on its efficacy and revenue potential.
Thanks, EDGE.

The camera will look around your room and decide what to flog you.
“Man, you’re a fat bastard. Why not try Weightwatchers?”
