New Minecraft update to feature “adventures”
Notch has said that the Minecraft 1.7 update will include “adventures,” in an effort to “flesh out the game a bit, making it reward exploration and combat more.” In addition, “assuming we like them in play testing, pistons are coming in 1.7.” The game’s next update will also see the start of Minecraft mod support, but there’s no date on the release as yet. Thanks, RPS.

I’m looking forward to seeing the “adventures”. My son plays the arse off of Minecraft, but I find it difficult to keep my attention on it without some kind of goal.

There are hundreds of custom adventure maps available all over the web for Minecraft, I think theres actually some sort of wiki type thing aswell.
Just go for the highest rated/downloaded and im sure it would get you into Minecraft more that way.
It worked for me anyway.

So Notch leaves his ears hanging towards Terraria in regards of implementing more combat oriented gameplay along with a more ‘adventurous’ type of play. Interesting, very interesting indeed.

Well as we learned during E3, what Notch says and what Notch does, are two completely different things xD

@4 Notch has said from the start he intended to implement various gameplay modes including a more adventure/goal oriented mode.
