Report – Vita battery life to be comparable to PSP

PlayStation Vita’s battery is set to be the same or near the same as PSP’s except for when you play graphical powerhouses like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Sony has told Engadget. The company wouldn’t be drawn on specifics on exactly how long it’ll last. And that it’s.

We tend to get about 3-4 hours out of ours, which isn’t bad but is less than half what we get out of the DS Lites. Not having a UMD drive should speed the Vita up, but that level of hardware comes at a price, I guess. Still, people seem to be happy charging their smart phones every ten minutes, so I guess this shouldn’t be a problem either?

I really hope Sony don’t skimp on the battery. At least with the original PSP you could buy a higher capacity replacement if you wished, the Vita is a closed unit.

Anything over 6 hours and I’ll be happy, although 4 seems more likely.

I don’t like the sound of “comparable”, it usually means “close but worse than” :(

well if factoring this thing
1) OLED is more efficient
2) both CPU and GPU relatively efficient compare to power they produce
3) no more UMD which remove major power drain problem
4) bigger size mean possibility of bigger battery

i guess if you play Heavy game like uncharted. it will last 3-4 hour. if it’s small like sound shapes it will last +6 hour.

Well with heavy usage, my Samsung Galaxy S dies within 4 hours so I’m hoping to get at the very least 6 hours considering that the PSV is designed for heavy usage, 8+ would be amazing.
