Sony WWS European boss says Vita is region-free

SCE Worldwide Studios European head Michael Denny has apparently confirmed that PS Vita is region free to, says IGN, “the best of his knowledge.” This would mean Vita would have a big 1up over the region-locked 3DS. And there you have it. Go place some pre-orders down for Japanese imports.

this is what i like since the ps3. maybe the thought: “hey when we will make it region-free, no one will try to hack/mod it and we have less pirated ps3s out there”
lol…and then…and then some ppl hacked it because they cut the OtherOS support down.

EXCELLENT !!!
I have modified/cracked both my PSOne and PS2 in order to play imported games from US and Japan (I live in France) but when PS3 got released with no region lock, I was very satisfied and saw no reason to get it modified.

I think that’s one of the main reasons why the console has been “hack-free” for many years, where 360 and Wii got hacked in days or weeks.

The region lock is the main reason why I won’t buy the 3DS (I have a DS and love it, but half my games are Japanese, hence the problem with 3DS).

or from Japan like I did when the PSP was not even out here and had FW 1.5 with all languages. hope they will make a pack like with the first run of the PSP: including small bag, hand strap….

I’d buy the US one then, but wouldn’t that limit online functionality?
