Uncharted 3 to have LAN support for multiplayer

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will have LAN support at launch, and it’s all thanks to the PSN hack.

According to a post over on Kotaku, Naughty Dog said it had to keep working on the multiplayer for Uncharted 3 while the service was down, so built in LAN support, which is also what players will be using when they get in on the multiplayer deal at Subway a full month before the core game launches.

LAN support will still be included when the game is released on November 1.

Interesting in hearing about the single-player portion? Check out our feature on it here.

“Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will have LAN support at launch, and it’s all thanks to the PSN hack.” what kind of crappy comment is this?? with “ALL THANKS TO THE PSN HACK”???

it’s looks like(for the reporter) it’s ok to be hacked, server out of 1,5 fricken month, being raped by a hack-boy for $39,99 for an EA game….

^ Thats not what she said;

The story is that because of PSN being down, ND had to stick LAN in the game to test its MP, and now its staying for the final release.

My only question is; If LAN is so damn easy to stick in a game, why isnt it in every game?

Maybe it’s not worth the effort. It’s much easier (and probably more common) to just play online with your friends sitting in your respective livingrooms rather than hauling your massive TV and your console over to your friends place.

Yeah but PSN was down for under a month (the gaming part of it), and i doubt ND started working on LAN day one of the outage and finished on the last day. How long did it take them to put this in the game? A week? 2 weeks? Less?!

Doesnt sound like much effort to me. unless we’re to believe ND are programming gods.

Maybe i’m being cynical, but I figured LAN is left out because devs want you online, all the time. Can’t tempt you with dlc if your not online right?

Lan is a great option that still a lot of people use, so I’m glad that its in!

Sure they can; Those downloadable maps will be playable in LAN too.

As a programmer I can tell you that adding LAN IMO is not a difficult or time consuming task. You’re still using TCP & UDP to send your data packets, maybe a little time setting up an interface or two but thats about it.
