Ridge Racer 3D issues follow 3DS firmware update

This week's 3DS firmware update brings with it several exciting new features - and a nasty Ridge Racer 3D bug, apparently.

Andriasang's translation of a Nintendo Japan alert suggests the firmware update will cause the game to freeze under specific conditions.

The crash will occur if the player pushes the B button on the Machine Select or Race Select screens prior to starting a Grand Prix or Single Player race.

Nintendo's proposed solution is to not press B at that moment - but it's promising another firmware update in mid-June.

It's not clear whether the issue is restricted to the Japanese version of the game or can be expected on US and European consoles. A quick glance over Nintendo of America's support site hasn't turned up any reports.

The long-awaited firmware update will launch the console's eShop and Internet browser.
