Sony opens PS Plus up to all, gives existing members extra goodies

Thursday, 2nd June 2011 14:03 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sony has updated PS Plus for European and US members, and due to the PS Store going live a bit late, the firm has added an extra 10 days to EU Plus memberships. This means you’ll be getting a total of 70 days of the service for free.

The welcome back package for those who were a member before or on April 21 adds the extra days, and allows you to access the April content which was missed out on for an extra couple weeks as well.

Sony has also released June’s content, and there’s quite a bit there so let’s get started with the highlights below.

From what i understand, you can download Burnout for free, but after PS+ free is over, you need to pay for + again to play Burnout.

Apparently they will just appear our accounts sometime within the next few days :-/

@5 yes thats true, along with all the other PS+ content, think i mgiht subscribe after this though :)

This welcome back pack could work really well for Sony, Everyone gets a chance to experience PS+, i bet subscribers will go through the roof once they expire.
And i Think InFamous 2 will get a big boost to sales once everyone downloads the first for free from the welcome back pack.

@5 Yes, that’s how PSN+ works. The Welcome Back stuff is yours to keep though.

I thought the free month might be a bit bumper to entice people in :). I’ve been a sub from the beginning and got a lot out of it for my money – not every month is as good as this though.

For those about to get their first trial of PS+, I would urge you ALL to get involved and keep the subscription going after the trial expires.

It’s fantastic value, and with rumours of further hack-attacks coming, you’ll either be (A) helping Sony to further strengthen their network infrastructure, or (B) getting ANOTHER heap of free stuff for any potential downtime.

I’m guessing too that the more PS+ permeates the mainstream, the more likely we are to see some key improvements to both the PS3 firmware AND the Store.
