DiRT 3 gets Colin McRae Vision DLC pack

Wednesday, 1st June 2011 15:21 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Codemasters has announced the Colin McRae Vision DLC pack for DiRT 3, which is available now. The pack, based on the late, great WRC champion on which the series was formerly named from, includes a Ford Escort MkII and five liveries. The pack is available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 160 MS points or £1.19 for when PS Store returns, with all proceeds being donated to the Colin McRae Vision Charity. The pack is the first of a “series of weekly downloadable content” for the racer.

One thing that annoys me to no end is that the cockpits are independent of the cars themselves.

When you’re inside the car, it feels like you’re being shook like a crackbaby, but when you see the car from the outside, it’s just kinda skirting along, not giving a fuck what the surface is. And while driving through water will cover your windscreen viewed from the inside, it doesn’t show on the outside.

That’s a huge disconnect for me, because those replays are so gorgeous you pretty much have to watch in awe.

The massively overproduced menus are really getting pathetic at this point as well. Your disembodied pals are doing everything except jumping up and down going “YAAAAAY, you’re a big bad rallydriver” – Because nothing says big bad rallydriver, like being patronized and told exactly how to drive by three humongous douchebags.

If only they’d put half as much effort into the realism.

I really think it is an improvement over Dirt2 where (pmsl) “your disembodied pals” used to say things like “that was gnarly” and “rad man!” soo much it was like your dad trying to be cool LOL, but I did really enjoy DIRT! this one I do play almost as much as Dirt! where Dirt2 went back to the shop after an hour….

Yeah I totally agree. Dirt 2 was a waste of time in every way. Nobody buys a rallygame so they can listen to a bunch of gay skaters. I expect ridiculous Finnish and Norwegian accents, not American stoner tripe.

It’s just all the more frustrating this time around because they’ve so nearly got it. With more attention to detail it would be mastery.

And what the hell is up with the racing lines being printed on the course? There’s no way you can justify leaving it in there on intermediate. We’re in trouble when people actually need a brightly coloured line to remind them where the road is.

(Obviously I disabled it, it just defies reason)
