Darksiders II confirmed for 2012, first artwork released

Wednesday, 1st June 2011 17:15 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

THQ’s confirmed its much-awaited Darksiders sequel for a 2012 release today, dropping a few scant details and showing a first piece of artwork for Game Informer’s July cover.

The actioner – releasing on PS3, 360 an PC in calendar 2012 – follows Death, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a story that runs parallel to the events in the first game. War was the focus of the original.

The game sends Death through various light and dark realms as he tries to redeem his brother War, the horseman blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.

Darksiders II’s world is described as “dramatically larger” than the first game, and will feature “full weapon and armor upgrade systems as well as bigger and more challenging dungeons and a vast array of new enemies and bosses.”

The Game Informer cover features art from Joe Madureira. The latest issue should be hitting mailboxes soon, and includes a 10-page spread on the game.

I think the first one was good, it`s lakes soul but what I like is how they
combine Zelda and GoW [ even the copy every tine tiny detail in those two ] !! ..

they need to make the gameplay more faster in stable 30fps and decrease the number of the bugs !!

I cannot wait for this game, the first one was a great, a really well done new IP, for me alongside with Batman AA, bayonetta and little king story on wii were the best new ips of this gen, sorry mass effect, and uncharted, gears of war etc but this games nailed for me on the first game more than those, dont get me wrong those are great franchises that became better on the following games, but the former mentioned games did it better on the first one than the last mentioned games IMHO.
P.S that and the fact that these were not too well now developers, at least it didnt had the hype of mass effect, uncharted or gears

Can’t wait, original was overlooked by many I fear. A great blend of Zelda like puzzling and simple but staisfying combat. More of the same pls… :)

I liken the first game to fan porn. It had something for everyone, and it was a sleeper hit (my favourite kind of hit). I cannot wait for this game to be released.

That’s why he’s death. He’s too cool to have only one scythe.

I’m actually quite keen to see this, despite finding the original a bit lacking. I’m hopeful that they’ve taken the original’s criticisms on board and found a bit of their own groove rather than just falling into everyone else’s. It wasn’t a bad game by any shakes, but it just felt like it should’ve been so much more.
