Resident Evil: The Mercenaries gets July 1 UK launch
Nintendo’s announced that Resident Evil: The Mercenaries will release, just as we predicted, on July 1. Mercenaries, with marketing and distribution being handled by Nintendo instead of Capcom, already had a June 28 US launch confirmed. It’ll release on June 2 in Japan. The title is based off the Mercenaries mode from Resident Evil 4 and 5, and will feature several main RE characters, including Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker, Barry Burton and Rebbecca Chambers, to name a few.

New LA Noire short story out now ahead of tomorrow’s full release
Rockstar’s released a new short story for LA Noire as it prepares to launch in the UK tomorrow. Known as “Naked Story,” it’s been written by Joe R. Lansdale. The story, which is part of a fuller collection of short stories that will release on June 6, is available to read for free at Complex. LA Noire releases tomorrow for PS3 and 360 in the UK following a US launch earlier this week. Protip: you should probably buy it.

Report – 33 staff laid off at Zipper Interactive
According to a Kotaku report, 33 people have been made redundant at Zipper Interactive. Sony said that the layoffs from the SOCOM and MAG developer was “normal business practice and a result of cutting back on production resources after the launch of two major franchises.” Zipper launched new massively multiplayer IP MAG back in January of last year, whilst it released SOCOM 4 last month, both for PS3.
