Video: First Bloodrayne: Betrayal trailer rains glorious 2D blood

You remember Bloodrayne, right? Red hair, a vampire before vampires became Hot Topic sales clerks, existent in the third dimension? Well, the first trailer of Bloodrayne: Betrayal is here to tell you that everything you know is a lie. Now the franchise has re-emerged from its coffin and, well, it looks a lot like Castlevania.

But that’s not a bad thing! WayForward’s once again cut some kind of deal with the 2D devil, resulting in some of the most gorgeous sprite-based animation we’ve seen in quite a while. Oh, and blood. If you’re squeamish, let us first remind you that – oh god – that stuff’s inside of you, oozing and pulsating everywhere. Terrifying, huh? Now then, where were we? Oh yes, the trailer. Awesome music!

It looks like Castlevania meets The Dishwasher. Animation’s a bit jerky at times, but it’s looking far more interesting than I ever expected it to. Nice!

It looks a good castlevania clone, even if i would have really preferred a more classical gameplay.

very decent looking, but Bloodrayne this is not :/ I was hoping for something more in the veins of the first game.

seeing “hack n slash action” and seeing her mashing up people sold me.
