Resident Evil movie franchise head watches “professional” players for inspiration

Thursday, 19th May 2011 00:12 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Director Paul W. S. Anderson apparently draw inspiration for the Resident Evil films by watching footage of people playing the games.

ShowbizSpy reports Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich outed her husband’s time-consuming hobby.

“Paul knows kids that are professional video game players. All they do is play the games until they master every level and unlock every code. They play the games for weeks and give Paul the footage,” she said.

“So he’s literally watching days of the most awesome Resident Evil players out there to get inspiration for the next instalment of the franchise.”

Goodness knows what a “professional” Resident Evil player actually is. If we’re talking achievement hounds, what a strange idea Anderson must have of the franchise.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Will the next film have lots of running into the walls whilst slowly rotating and accidently going back down the corridor you came in through.

Time for a new approach then? This one is clearly only producing garbage of the highest order.

They need to stop filming this abomination. First movie was a decent one and had that Resident Evil Atmosphere, everything else is just an abomination or garbage.

Last movie was the worst of them all.

He needs to stop watching and actually play the bloody game. Seriously how weird is it to get footage from KIDS playing the game….yeah ‘game footage’ I’m sure that’s what he told Milla.

This is why video game films turn out to be shit. We need writers and directors who know and understand the worlds that they are try to translate into a film. That’s just not possible by watching videos.

This explains the slap dash approach he has to the game lore. He just hears what “teh kidz fink is kewl” & throws it in… Explains the movies plot too :/

It’d be awesome if they had a bit in one of the movies where the characters could only walk directly forwards and had to stop and rotate on the spot if they wanted to change direction. There could be tense moments where they’re frantically running into a door frame while trying to escape a zombie.
