Survey Says: 63 million iOS users downloading over 5 million games per day

A March 2011 study conducted by Distimo and Newzoo, surveyed iOS users living in the US and six countries in Europe, and found that 63 million iOS users are downloading 5 million games on a daily basis.

Games are doing better that apps in other categories, according to the study heads which looked at the top 300 games available in both the free and pay categories.

The average iOS user downloaded 2.5 games a month, 88 percent of which were free.

Games makes up 40 percent of iOS revenue, and in-game spending is expected to boost iOS gaming revenue the second part of 2011.

In the US, 12 million folks play games on iPad while 7 million Europeans play games on the device, which only represents 10 percent of iOS game purchasers and more than what currently use PSP, notes the study.

In Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, UK and US, between 50 and 75 percent of iPhone owners play games.
