Phil Harrison and Robin Kaminsky join Gaikai advisory board

Tuesday, 17th May 2011 14:41 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Gaikai has announced the appointments of Phil Harrison and Robin Kaminsky to its advisory board.

Harrison spent 15 years at Sony, where he was at one time the president of its Worldwide Studios, and he was also president of Atari and a former member of the board of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.

Kaminsky is currently CEO of 1st Street Partners and executive-in-residence at Rustic Canyon Ventures. She was previously president at Activision.

“I’ve known Phil for most of my career and watched him help build the global PlayStation brand from scratch,” said David Perry, CEO of Gaikai, in a statement. “As we build our open, cloud platform for all games companies to use, we believe Phil’s input and perspective will be very valuable.”

“The first use of Gaikai’s open cloud is to disrupt how video game advertising works today. Instead of paying to move people around on the Internet, our Web partners can bring state-of-the-art games directly to the players on their websites. The cost of getting people to experience the latest video games will plummet. We greatly value the advice and input of Robin as we roll out this new service.”

Gaikai is currently in beta in 12 different countries worldwide.

i tried the demo for Dead Space 2 & Mass Effect.

I couldn’t even get pass Dead Space 2′s menu and it lagged like hell!

Mass Effect ran alright, jumpy parts but ran better than Dead Space 2

I would expect this to run on par with Onlive. That is to say smooth enough if your isp is decent. I am not sure about their Biz model tho.
