Murder is the case: LA Noire hits 90+ on MetaCritic

Monday, 16th May 2011 17:05 GMT By Johnny Cullen

LA Noire’s reviews embargo has lifted. It is scoring big? Seems to be: nothing’s gone below eight anyway.

The game’s now hit 91 for the PS3 version and 92 for the Xbox 360 version on MetaCritic.

Get a round-up of scores below. If you want us to add a score, add a link in the comments and we’ll chuck it in.

The long-in-development Team Bondi actioner is released in the US tomorrow and in the UK on Friday for PS3 and 360.

woah that kotaku vid sold me on the game completely =O

Looks like a 90+ metacritic to me

Hardly ‘predicting’ a metacritic with a bunch of the scores now though is it ;-)

Looking good. If it weren’t for the setting, the game would be an instant buy for me.

@13 Same. That was a great vid. I really like how it explained some of the finer points of the game that really hook you.

    #19 4 years ago
  20. Kabby

But it’s not a first person shooter or even set in space. Who will buy this?

    #20 4 years ago
  21. YoungZer0

@18: Screw Gametrailers. They criticized the game for not having coop. They do that every fucking time, no matter how much a game should be singleplayer only.

Sweet scores. Good job, R* and TB.

Sounds like when Gamespot said that Homecoming needed more action like Resident Evil.

  25. Hunam

I like how EG’s 8′s are always so weird. Like, RDR was an 8 and yet is way better than anything else that got a ten in the last few years.

  26. DeMatthew

Belgian website 9lives shared their score as well. A splendid 9.4/10. Language = Dutch.

Any Xbox 360 and PS3 comparisons in there? Still not sure which version to buy.

    #27 4 years ago
  28. Hunam

The PS3 version is supposed to have an exclusive case I think. I might jump over to that version tbh as it was the lead platform too.

    #28 4 years ago
  29. Gekidami

From what i can tell all of the reviews are of the PS3 version. I’m guessing R* only sent that version out for now.

@31 Erm, no, that’s naive silly gamers who probably end up buying lots of poor quality games far beyond their worth, putting cash in the hands of lazy publishers.

IGN a Eurogamer review are sucks and inadequate as always

` Erm, no, that’s naive silly gamers who probably end up buying lots of poor quality games far beyond their worth, putting cash in the hands of lazy publishers.`

This is wrong, but why am I not surprised reading this?

    #37 4 years ago
  38. UuBuU

Wow, I am surprised. I expected IGN to give this an instant 10/10 regardless of how good it was. I guess they’re not quite as predictable as I thought. My respect for them may have just gone up a notch.

    #38 4 years ago
  39. Hunam

@37 If it’s wrong to investigate other peoples opinions before buying things then you’ll end up with a lot of lemons in your life. An uninformed buyer is a stupid buyer and a mark.

    #39 4 years ago
  40. M. K.

What the hell are you talking about? It’s about scores, not getting information about games and peoples opinions…

@13 – Totally agree. Wasn’t sure but after that vid review I’m defo in!

    #41 4 years ago
  42. Moonwalker1982

Does that Kotaku video show any spoilers?

    #42 4 years ago
  43. YoungZer0

@39: M.K. is right Hunam, it’s not about the reviews but the score. Erth seems only to care about games with high numbers.

    #43 4 years ago
  44. Erthazus

@42, not much. Just half of the mission. Basically they just show you a game and nothing more.

come on guys , it is R*, this sums it up

    R* FTW !!

    screw the multiplayer

    #46 4 years ago
  47. Len

@42 As Erth says not much. Just a few littler bits of one of the earlier missions and diff ways of playing it but leaves out as much as poss. Defo worth a watch imo…

In other news, on the strength of that I have gone and pre-ordered this to pick up tom. Very much looking fwd to it… :)

Well seems I’ll be getting it after all. I just find it kinda weird that no bad review came out. Doesn’t look like the game everyone would enjoy oO

    #50 4 years ago
  51. cheesy

maybe its one of those abnormally cool things which appeals to the masses but is ultimately aimed at a niche?

    #51 4 years ago
  52. M. K.

@50: There’s a french review listend on MC. They gave it a 7 because it has technical flaws and is very repetitive, but well you know it’s a Rockstar game and they never score less than 9 even with boring games like GTA4 ;DDD

    #52 4 years ago
  53. Gurdil

@52: Are you talking about the Gamekult review? If that’s the case it’s not really a bad review. In fact Gamekult is one of the few websites (or even magazines) that use the whole rating palette and not only the 7 to 10 grades (proof is the subtext that goes with the 7 grade is “good”). They still say it’s a bit redundant, which is my main concern. Maybe I’ll wait and see some user reviews to make my decision…

EDIT: GTA IV was, indeed, a disappointment to me.
