@1 Probably because it was the first decent Sonic game in years.
Good to see Vanquish sold a decent quantity, even if it wasn’t an overnight sensation. That’s not only one of my favourite games of last years, but one of my favourite games of this entire generation.

Yeah. Sonic Colours was actually really quite good. Still not a patch on the old stuff, but hey, getting there. I just wish they’d go back and look at what they did right with Sonic Adventure 1. 3D isn’t a worthless venture, they’ve just been doing it wrong ever since the death of the Dreamcast.
I love that they’ve been doing different things and all, but it hasn’t exactly been innovation, it’s just been rehashes with one or two gimmicks. Such as hey, the werehog, or hey, Wii controls, or hey, swordfighting. Perhaps they need to take a completely different approach to Sonic? Maybe try to do the Starfox Adventures sort of thing.

Yeah! They could call it Sonic Adventure…. No, wait…. Lol
On a serious note, they should look back at what made the Sonic games on their own consoles so special. I always thought Sonic was a better fit for Nintendo’s consoles the Gamecube’s fortunes could have been very different if Sonic was exclusive. Sega should see now that the Wii Sonic games sell far better than the pap they put out for Xbox & Playstation, Sonic The Hedgehog next gen anyone?!

I seconded what #2 and #3 said, sonic colours was a good sonic game , with good gameplay and graphics, the best in years in my eyes, that maybe doesnt said much due the bad games latly on this franchise, but it does it is that good.

Doesn’t pay to take risks.
Sonic and Iron Man 2 the best sellers.
Vanquish should have sold much higher.
Sega should take the THQ approach with blitz marketing. Even a crap game like Home Front will do 2 million

erm, video game sales at SEGA fell year-on-year. profits came from elsewhere.
