War in the North dev diary explains the weaponry of Middle-earth

Warner Bros. and Snowblind Studios released a new diary today detailing the weaponry you will be handling in The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

The video, posted courtesy of Gamefront, showcases a variety of weapons which will be at your disposal, which include staffs, battle-axes, swords, and other nasty killing implements.

Follow along below as combat designer Ian Scott explains the goals of the weapon design, as they strive to create armaments geared to inflict maximum damage on enemies that not only look cool, but cause orcs and trolls to die in the most painful manner possible.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North is slated for late summer on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

The troll at 01.33 has got to be the worst hammer-wielder I’ve ever seen. What a disgrace. He has brought shame to his clan. I’d have taken care of that dwarf in a heartbeat.
