Fable III PC demo never planned for release, listing was a misunderstanding

It looks as though there won’t be a Fable III PC demo released after all.

Despite The Major posting the news that a Fable III demo would be released through GFWL day and date with the game’s PC release, it looks as though it won’t be happening after all.

According to an edited version the May XBL Update, Major posted that he had been “informed that a Fable III PC demo is no longer scheduled.”

However, Lionhead has told IncGamers that there was never a demo planned for the PC version in the first place, and the listing had been nothing more than a misunderstanding.

Sorry.

Game’s still out on May 17 though.

Thanks, Blue.

Agreed, pc-gamers won’t care for such a noob-game anyway. Even some Facebook games have more depth nowadays.

@6 Yeah, Microsoft have been claiming to of put effort into PC gaming lately (Fable 3, Age of Empires Online and Flight simulator). A very weak offering from such a large company and they still haven’t re-designed or put a bullet into GFWL.

@4, I just pre-ordered it on Steam, I have been looking forward to playing this and judging from the time Fable 3 has spent on Steam’s Top Sellers list it seems like quite a few PC gamers share my enthusiasm.

Not so much. Many of my favourite journalists, the ones who are actually trustworthy, slammed the game for being horrible.

Whose idea was the Sanctuary anyway? That has to be the most foolhardy approach to a user UI in the history of software development. It reminds me of how people used to think, years ago, that it would be cool to wander around a virtual city to browse the web and where buildings would be giant web browsers.

We found out pretty quickly why that’s a bad idea, but the Sanctuary actually embodies this idea with a sort of earnest wholeheartedness that makes me genuinely worry about the sanity of the designer in question.

Erm, Fable 3 is a good game. Who ever said it was horrible is just stupid. It’s slightly misguided in some areas, but they removed the menu’s to make it more accessible, which it actually is. The only thing that’s really wrong with the game is the massive amount of bugs and the slightly patchy story. The actual gameplay, world, characters and the rest of it are all pretty top stuff. No Fable 2 sure, but still good.
