Dragon Quest Collection formally announced by Square

Square Enix has made a formal announcement regarding the Dragon Quest Collection which is being released in celebration of the series' 25th anniversary.

The collection for Wii includes five games: Famicon's Dragon Quest I-III, and Dragon Quest 1&2 and Dragon Quest 3 from Super Famicom. The games are just the original versions running on Wii, and can be played with the Wiimote, Classic, Pro and Game Cube controllers. There will also be collectors items in the package.

Dragon Quest is very popular, apparently, because as of December 2010 the franchise has moved 57 million units since its first release in 1986.

Pricing has yet to be announced, and a special anniversary site is expected to go live soon.

Thanks, Andriasang.
