Dead or Alive: Dimensions shows off QTEs, more

GT’s posted some new footage of Dead or Alive: Dimensions, showing off quick-time events for the fighter, as well as other bits of gameplay. You can watch them below the break. The fighter is due out later this month for 3DS.

    I cant believe they are showcasing QTEs.

    The QTE is the single weakest gameplay crutch ever invented, and any dev should be fucking ashamed of using them instead of actually using design skills to create a challenging and cinematic encounter.

    QTE is actually an experience changer, Shenmue helped redefined QTE were originally made. From there one, a great design allowed others to use that design.

    Much like the health regeneration system or bubble shield Halo invented in Combat Evolved, allowed others to copy that idea.

    Also if you’ve never played Shenmue, you will dislike QTE much like every other people who dislikes QTE.

    And this game doesn’t use QTE throughout, it only uses it for Tag and training. This is a training video man.

    Yes, it changes good experiences into shit!

    Really, it’s the laziest shortcut in the big book of lazy game mechanics, and cannot in any way compare to being given the freedom to approach situations with the tools given you by the game.
