Remedy: “More Wake is coming,” isn’t a sequel

Remedy head of franchise Oskari Hakkinen has confirmed that more Wake action is on the way, but has said it isn’t Alan Wake 2.

Furthermore, he told Eurogamer that it wouldn’t be DLC for the original.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” Hakkinen said.

He added that platforms or launch timing are unconfirmed, but teased that “fall 2011 is probably a good guess.”

Hakkinen also said that the new title will “give more” to fans of Wake 1, but will also enable new fans of the series to “finally jump on board.”

This follows a a LinkedIn CV mentioning work on cut-scenes for the game yesterday.

Hakkinen insisted that the slip was unfortunate, but added that to see interest in the series was “great.”

Job listings posted last year by Remedy suggested it was staffing up for a “AAA project” for 360.

Remedy then announced it was looking to work with a programmer with Kinect experience for the “next iteration” of the Alan Wake engine.

Hakkinen said that “a slice” of Remedy has been working on the project for “the last months.”

Alan Wake released last May for Xbox 360. Two DLC chapters, The Signal and The Writer, followed afterwards.

Alan Wake 3, then. Or maybe 4.

Oh no, I hope it’s not a movie!

I am guessing it’s a prequel (which would be great) or a Kinect version of the already out Alan Wake which would suck BIG time!

Barry’s last name wasn’t also Wake by any chance, now, was it?

Joking aside, I’m interested to learn more.

Something Kinect-based seems most likely. Sadly.

Actually sounds like a non-360 release of AW. Maybe PC version.

Did MGS publish AW? If not then a PS3 release could be a possibility… maybe?

Let’s look at the clues here guys…

Kinect seems likely and the quote above that new fans will be able to “finally jump on board” seems like a downright giveaway. Clearly it’s going to be… Alan Wakeboarding! COMPLETE WITH FLAPPY ARM ENABLED MOTION CONTROL!

AW was MGS, yes.

I’m guessing a PS3 port of the original

That doesn’t seem very likely given that Microsoft financed and published it.

@15

Not to mention that Microsoft actually OWNS the IP.

Maybe a spin-off for the rumored 360 successor

Exapanision or spin off to make it more instersting.

Remedy needs a damn PR and NEVER to release by a Rockstar game.

That almost killed them.

It’s probably a cheap spin-off using the same game world, telling a different story. With Kinect of course.

so just like the original game’s schizophrnic nature, they have absolutely no idea what this is do they? -_-

1- this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC

2- will also enable new fans of the series to “finally jump on board”

3- Alan Wake for PC & PS3

Yeah I think its definitely just Alan Wake GOTY Edition with the two DLC packs and Kinect enabled…maybe with a lower price as well such as 40 as opposed to 60…

Prequel is possible too, I would be fine with that

With the “finally be able to jump onboard” comment, it has to be PC or PS3. I’m hoping PS3, hey Mass Effect 2 happened.
