Leaked Tomb Raider script sheds light on the young Lara Croft
By now, we all know that the impending Tomb Raider reboot will take us back through Lara’s past. Now, a leaked voice-acting script has shed some light on what she was like back then, and the dynamics of her relationship with another treasure hunter, Conrad Roth.

It seems that Siliconera has gotten its hands on a script leaked from a voice acting audition, and the excerpt offers an early insight into how Miss Croft grew up into the smart-alecky character we know and love today.
Also featuring is 52-year-old treasure hunter Conrad Roth, who is a sort of mentor to Lara (a role similar to Werner Von Croy in Tomb Raider IV, according to reports).
The script isn’t necessarily what will appear in the final game, but this early read still gives an idea of just what’s in store for the new (old) Tomb Raider.
It goes without saying that the script is chock-full of potential spoilers, so if you are trying to save yourself for the new Tomb Raider from Crystal Dynamics, maybe you shouldn’t head over to Siliconera and read it for yourself.
Thank you to StolenGlory for pointing this one out!

Really looking forward to see how they’re looking to invigorate the franchise with this in a genre that Uncharted has pretty much dominated for the last two or three years.
Ta for the mention also!

I always find it funny that Tomb Raider was the big game till they sequeled it to death. Then PoP turned up and every one was like this is the new TR. TR then tried to copy it then Uncharted turned up and now TR is like, fuck, guess we better try something different seeing as everyone else does our thing better than us! Hence why the new one looks awesome. It’s finally gone back to doing something different than trying to imitate it’s own imitators.

Precisely. I wonder how far they’ll take the newly touted survival aspect in the game too?

I think the comparisons are largely pointless and inane tbh. If Uncharted was a TR imitation, then so was Syphon filter being a TR without the acrobatics and God of war being a melee oriented Tr
Sands of time games are the only ones that warrant to be named watered down Trs, sadly CD did look at them in the past.
It’s true that one of the issues was following the *trends* though. ie the ‘dark’ ‘other side’ with Aod was very popular back in the days, as well as the ‘overrealistic’ one currently (see Max Payne as well).Perhaps it will be for the better this time around though.

Everything about this reboot looks amazing, but i want to see if they go for a gears of war style third person view for the shooting, if they do that i will buy this day one

I’m sure the game is going to be a really good game, but that Roth guy feels like a carbon copy of Sully from Uncharted.

I agree wholeheartedly with DaMan, there is no apt genre comparison between Tomb Raider and Uncharted. They’re tonally similar: treasure-hunting entwined with the supernatural, but Tomb Raider has always been primarily about platforming and puzzles, and Uncharted is a shooter foremost.
And the last three Tomb Raider titles were excellent, so well done to Crystal Dynamics for taking the initiative rather than running the franchise into the ground (again) with re-heated leftover sequels.

I’d like to see a Dead Space viewpoint/firing style. Really enjoyed the HD remake of Legend, though the other two wete a bit dull imo.

I’ve played this game, that script is not legit. One or two differences from what I saw would be understandable, but the entire thing’s off in every aspect from it’s scenes to it’s descriptions. Fake.
