Brink gets launch trailer, shoot fans hold breath

Monday, 9th May 2011 15:12 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Bethesda’s put out what promises to be the final Brink trailer before the Splash Damage shooter releases in the US tomorrow. Europeans will get the game on Friday. The near-future team-based game has been delayed by a year, but there’s no doubting a debut on PC, PS3 and 360 this week. Check out Johnny’s just-published chat with studio head Paul Wedgwood here. The video’s below.

Seems a shame that such an online-heavy title is launching while PSN’s down. They must be praying that it comes back this week.

I know right? Gamefly is sending it to me for the PS3 so I will only be able to play the SP which I hope is good.

Why do they all have such disproportionate faces?

Your eyes aren’t supposed to be in your forehead.

@4 I think it might just be character styling. I really like the look of the characters in Brink and think the styling is distinctive. I think, these days, you need some sort of visual gimmick in order to stand out and not be regarded as “just another..” shooter/racer/whatever game.

When do we expect reviews to start coming in? Getting a bit late if it’s tomorrow in the US.

Its Bathesda they usually have an embargo the day of release and they also send the reviewing copies the day of release.

@1 If banging their head against a wall, whimpering “i want my cod back” is praying, then yes they are o_O

This game needs to be looked after like valve did TF2 for it to really shine I feel. If it had updates of new content like TF2 did on a similar scale (on the PC at least) the game would do wonders.

As L.A. Noire and The Witcher 2 come out next week, I think I can skip over another shooter.

I was thinking about getting this, but with psn down there’s not much point. It’s bound to affect sales

Last year this game was on my most wanted but with me still enjoying Portal 2 (yet to do co-op) and LA Noire out next week then I’m not getting on Day 1 but like Crysis I will wait for a price drop and get for about £20.

More interested in the SP as I played the online beta and although its good – its not any better than anything else I already have.

I’ll be playing this all day tomorrow, been reading up on it and it sounds really promising: http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/fragworlds-brink-qanda-with-richard-ham.html Can’t wait until the morning! edit: make sure you click all the tabs. There’s also more info on this site if you look to the left and click on either brink compendium update (1 or 2). I didn’t provide the link because some of it is “spoilerish”.

From this video the idea that you free-run automatically when you run into something looks like an actually useful and fun mechanic. Hoping this game is good, its showing all the right signs just needs to pull it off.

Is this game similar to Borderlands?

    #27 4 years ago
  28. Phoenixblight

    @27

No not even close. If any game coming out that may be similar to Borderlands it would be RAGE.

Borderlands was a great game. For some reason this game reminded me of it. Not sure why. Maybe I should watch some trailers.
