Nintendo Power info on Ocarina 3D, Mario and Sonic 2012

Wednesday, 4th May 2011 14:24 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Nintendo Power has listed a few extra nuggets of information regarding both The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and the recently confirmed Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Ocarina of Time 3D

According to the magazine, via GoNintendo, the characters in the game will still occasionally fade into view as you make your approach just like in the original game.

Interiors inside caves and whatnot are now fully polygonal constructs; and the wonderful Kokiri Forest shop now has a sign posted made from a giant leaf which allows it to stand out from the other buildings in the village. Inside you will find extra decor such as bags of goods sitting around, pictures on the wall are better detailed, and the rugs and pots sitting in the foreground will now have patterns.

Malon’s room at Lon Lon Ranch now has crayon drawings on the wall, stuffed animals close to the bed, and flowers and knickknacks are displayed on her nightstand. There is also a drawing of Malon and her father Talon hanging on the wall behind crates.

When it comes to controls, players can now equip four items: one to the X and Y buttons, and two on the 3DS’ touch screen. Players will be able to activate the items assigned to X and Y items by touching the corresponding icons on the screen which can also be toggled in first-person view.

To move Link, players will use the circle pad, swing a sword with B, perform various actions with A, use L to lock on to enemies, and R will raise Link’s shield to block.

The ocarina has its own touch screen button, so players will not have to equip it in order to use it. To play notes on it, players can use either the face buttons or touch screen, and the song list can be accessed directly from the screen used to play the ocarina.

Nintendo Power never mentions if Navi is less annoying this time around or not.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is out next month. Gamekyo also has a scan of the article here.

Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Nintendo Power also published a few extra details on the Mario and Sonic game announced back in April.

While most of the information gleaned from the mag was included in the initial press release, it did mention that the 3DS version’s 50 different Olympics-themed activities were playable in both single and multiplayer just as with the Wii version. Each mode will also contain its own unique control scheme for both versions of the game, obviously.

The magazine also mentioned previously announced Olympic events such as aquatics, table tennis, football and equestrian style competitions.

Upon release, the game will include new Dream events, set in “popular Mario and Sonic worlds.”

A launch date for Mario and Sonic will be announced by SEGA later in the year.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

The only way Navi could be less annoying is if she was dead.
