Japanese charts – Pokemon Typing and PSP on top

Media Create has released the unit sales chart for Japanese hardware and software for the week ending April 24, and it finds PSP back in the top spot, and Pokemon gets to typing on the software charts.

Battle & Get! Pokemon Typing debuts at the top

Nintendo's Pokemon typing title hit the software chart in the number one spot moving 59,363 units for the week. The game, which comes bundled with a wireless keyboard, is meant to teach children how to type. Pokemon already teaches children in Japan how to read, so why not?

Another debut this week which did rather well, was Konami’s Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 which took three spots in the top 10 and sold a combined total of 169,394 units, making it the clear winner of the top 20 in terms of sales. Out of versions available for it in the top 20, the preferred format was PS3.

SOCOM: US Navy SEALs 4 was another debut for the week, moving 12,613 units for PS3.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has a rather good software week compared to the weeks prior, as it has not one, but tow titles in the top 20. Otomedius X from Konami launched at number 10 moving 10,502 units, and Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online debuted at number 12, moving 10,393 units.

All in all, eight new titles hit the top 20 this week, 17 total on the full 50.
