Mount&Blade Steam promo this weekend

Steam is throwing a bit of a Mount&Blade promotion this weekend, with a pre-order discount, dramatic sale, and Team Fortress 2 tie-in items.

To kick things off, the upcoming sequel, Mount&Blade: With Fire and Sword, is 10 percent off over the weekend.

The new title takes the series into the post-medieval era, and if you put in your oder before May 3, you’ll be rewarded with two hats for Team Fortress 2 – the Hetman’s Headpiece for the Engineer, and the Spy’s Janissary Ketche.

The original game is on sale for $3.99, and the multiplayer-friendly spin-off-slash-expansion Warband is down to $5.99.

The Mount&Blade series is developed by indie studio TaleWorlds, and is a kind of open-ended simulation thing, with action combat as well as RPG elements.

Thanks, Evil Avatar.

I find it fascinating that you can go on the Steam forum and find people saying they’re going to buy the game just because they want the TF2 hats. No idea what Mount & Blade is, but they know it comes with hats, and they want those hats.

I remember when TF2 was a shooter and not a hat-collecting game. Really shows how weird people are.

As for Mount & Blade: Warband: It’s really an excellent game. Kind of like a hugely expanded version of Sid Meier’s Pirates, but on land. And with awesome horseback combat.

Not so sure about With Fire and Sword, though.
