Avalanche wants “new console hardware,” “would love” Just Cause return
Avalanche Studios has told VG247 it wants to see a new hardware cycle, with its “tech ready to push more pixels.”
The developer’s just signed a new publishing deal with SEGA for its military co-op shooter Renegade Ops for PSN, PC and XBLA.
“I think I’d prefer to see new console hardware,” Renegade Ops’ senior producer Andreas Thorsén told us, speaking on whether or not the game will support Kinect and Move.
“We always want to do more of everything, and our tech is certainly ready to push more pixels.”
Nintendo confirmed yesterday it would launch its successor to Wii in 2012, with an E3 unveil to come in June.
There’s been no hint as yet from Sony or Microsoft on next-gen plans for PlayStation or Xbox.
Thorsén also said the developer “would love” to return to the Just Cause IP, with Avalanche boss Christofer Sundberg saying after the release of Just Cause 2 that people “shouldn’t be surprised” to hear an announcement of a third game.
“Judging by the amount of positive feedback we still receive for JC2 I wouldn’t be surprised either,” said Thorsén.
“I’m not able to confirm anything about a new game but we love the IP and would love to return to it again.”
Renegade Ops releases this fall. Expect the full interview soon.
