New shots: Max has a many different looks in Max Payne 3

Below are some new shots released by Rockstar of Max Payne 3.

These are the shots which were previously exclusive to Edge magazine.

There’s Max with hair and Max donning the Kojak in there, as well as his different clothing tastes: a suit, a wife beater, and the Jimmy Buffett.

Max Payne 3 will be released on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. There’s no date though as of yet.

It is Max, surely it was inevitable he’d eventually end up looking like a drunken hobo

I’m going to assume Max Payne 3 jumps about in time quite a bit because there’s some that look like they take place not long after 2 and others where he’s much older.

Cool :D

They are still using their engine which makes sense you put 100 million into it should stretch that out as long as you can. Red Dead Redemption looked fantastic and this game still looks just as sharp.

Wonder why they didn’t keep the face model from Max Payne 2? Or maybe they just want to keep on changing the face like they did between 1 and 2. Heh.

Well i don’t know if its Max Payne 1 or 2 but his likelyness in one of those was based off of Sam Lake from Remedy and so with Rockstar now having Max Payne i would guess thats why he looks different now?

@9: They used the likeness of Sam Lake in the first one.

They ninth picture along looks very much like it’s set in New York – Max even looks a bit like he did in MP2.

Means there will probably be a flashback level set in New York. I’m guessing there will be different timeframes: NY, closer in time to the events of 1&2; arrival in Rio (working as a private contractor, Max still has hair); later on in Rio after he’s hit rock bottom.

@6 Can’t really agree with that. I thought Red Dead Redemption looked pretty crap, even in HD. Good game and all, but the graphics weren’t the draw.

In most of those images you have jagged edges and little squares jutting out all over the place. Lot of blur as well. If you’re going to do promo shots, at least make sure the textures are sharp.

It doesn’t reflect on the game itself, I’m cautiously interested, but I’m always a little puzzled when developers don’t tidy up these kinds of images.

Rockstar never used the most fancy graphics, they create an engine that fits with what their needs are. You want eye candy you go for Crytek but you want a game engine that offers a lot with open world mechanics you go for Rockstar’s engine.

@16: Let’s just hope for tight controls.

@16 Yeah I agree. It just wasn’t flashy is all. I still take Vice City and Bully out for a spin every now and then.

Their new “gritty realism” approach really turns me off, their writers can’t really pull it off, but there’s no denying the craftsmanship of Red Dead Redemption or GTA IV. The tech is outstanding, I wish they’d taken a different route with it.

I cant wait for it. I hope its as good as (and better than) the first one. I didn’t really like part two. Its like BloodRayne, that was cool on the first. Both of these games were great in part one because of open field to run in and the part 2 of both games confine you in small places, and that gives you a depressing feeling : P
