Rumour: Retro Studios “working on Project Café game”
Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country Returns dev Retro is already at work on a game for Wii’s successor, an online report claims.
Eurogamer has reported that sources inside the first-party Nintendo developer have told the Paul Gale Network that the studio is working on a “a project everyone wants us to do”.
PGN claims that Retro was amongst the very first studios to receive a dev kit for the Wii successor. There’s no word on what the project they’re developing for it might be, though PGN speculates that it could be new FPS.
Retro Studios previously stated a while back that it wouldn’t rule out a return to the Metroid franchise one day.

They want to have some real games at launch to get people interested in in the new console so they don’t end up having a repeat of the 3DS launch.

I wouldn’t be surprised if pretty much all of Nintendo’s own teams are working on games for this. If they’re not, what the hell are they doing?

The Paul Gale Network has made shit up before. It doesn’t look like a very reliable source.
Having said that, I’m sure Retro ARE working on Wii 2. I just doubt this source confirms it.

it’s obviously going to be some Nintendo old forgotten IP they would remake.
Retro Studios need to make their own IP and stop cleaning Nintendo’s sh* for them, I mean they had to keep bringing back Nintendo’s old IP for them.

XION. shut-up please. RETRO wouldn’t even exist without nintendo’s ip AND there is no contractual agreement that states they can’t make their own IP!

I’m sorry, but when I hear “a project everyone wants us to do”, and connected to Nintendo, I can’t help but think GoldenEye007 N64 proper HD remake..
That would sure be one helluva packed in, on the drive, bundle game for their new system. Afterall, everyone’s only been talking about it, and wishing for it, for YEARS…
