Friday, 15th April 2011 11:33 GMT By Debabrata Nath

Gamestop Germany has put up a Grand Theft Auto V listing for pre-order, marking it for an January 15, 2012 release.

There’s a description, too. It doesn’t sound very conclusive, especially when run through a machine translator:

“Rock Star is now the first official information about GTA V coughed up! In an interview with the Times, said Dan Houser, that even on the fifth GTA is in progress. But before the characters are created, developers look after the the city, the whole play is in the. Houser is co-author of the screenplay for the story line be, the sites will comprise about 1000.”

Potential GTA V domains were unearthed last month, and a casting call was put up by Take Two and Rockstar recently, trying to find actors for something called “Rush”.

GTA V is expected to be announced at E3 in June.

GTA 5 has to be in development. My problem with Rockstar is that North is helping with Max Payne 3 and trying to still do Agent too. If GTA 5 is announced and even given a good showing, then Agent might be on the backburner AGAIN!

E3 is already going to have Half Life 3, GTA 5, Metal Gear Solid Rising FULL DEMO, Kojimas new game, Hitman 5, Bioshock Infinite and NOW the new Hardcore Nintendo “Revolution”, I will call it that.

WHAT A E3!! AND I cant forget the games this year they will show off.

E3 isn’t going to have Half-Life 3. I’d put money on Valve releasing the third episode before that, massive delay or not.

“Rockstar hat nun erste offizielle Hinweise zu GTA V herausgerückt! In einem Interview mit der Times erklärte Dan Houser, dass bereits am fünften GTA gearbeitet wird. Bevor aber die Charaktere erstellt werden, kümmern sich die Entwickler um die Stadt, in der das ganze spielen soll. Houser wird auch Co-Autor des Drehbuchs für den Handlungsablauf sein, das etwa 1.000 Seiten umfassen soll. ”

Rockstar now released first official hints (official hints?!? lol) for GTA 5. In an Interview with the Times Dan Houser explained, that they are allready working on it (orly?). But before characters are getting done, the developer first takes care of the city in which the game will take place. Houser will also be co writring the story, which will be arround 1000 pages long.

furthermore, the only platform mentioned is PS3…

What better way to sell the system, though?

Of course, it’ll never happen. And if it did, it’d have Mario in it. :-D

GTA is one of those great games that because of its very subject matter and construct, can be sequel-ed indefinitely because its a direct reflection of the modern world. There are infinite locations, times and stories to be done and always more ways of improving the realism.

    “reflection of the modern world.”

    vice city anyone?

its just a story of organized crime and a bloke making his way up.
can take place everwhere, everytime, since weapons exist

I hope GTA goes back to what it was all about in the first three – four games, fun.

“There are infinite locations, times and stories to be done and always more ways of improving the realism.”

Is more realism really what the series needs? GTAIV took big steps forward in terms of realism, but it lost some of the fun and over-the-topness of the previous games.

Regarding locations, given the length of time they usually spend working on GTA games, i’d be quite happy for them to simply continue the Liberty City then Vice City then San Andreas cycle. Although at some point i’d love to see them try and tackle all three at once.

If however they did decide to go for a city based on London or something, for the love of god don’t make it contemporary please! 70s, 80s, 90s. Not 2000s, it’s boring.

not gonna happen with the ridiculously (way too) high Metascore GTA4 recieved.

i would love to see a gta:paris or gta:moscow or even a gta:rio/buenos aires but i guess thats not gonna happen seeing its a parody of the american dream and with the egocentric (?) american main audience supposedly (?) turned off by that.

The date 15.01.2012 can’t be the real release date. It is Sunday. The GTA episodes usually comes on Thuesday. I think this is the furthest possible date. And 69.99€? This isn’t too much?

Note: I think that Vinewood can be a tricky information. Vinewood means Hollywood, but there is one Hollywood in Los Angeles and there is one in Florida, near to Miami, which is Vice City.

A sequel to San Andreas with an upgraded version of the GTA IV engine would be cool.

I thought the whole San Andreas setting was way too cliche, but GTA IV badly needed the features that game had.

The GTA IV engine itself is amazing, it’s borderline unnerving how people react to getting shot, but they really need to lay off the whole fly-on-the-wall social realism dig and get back to the roots of the game.

Back in the DMA Design days, all the characters and missions were completely twisted, and that’s pretty much the best it’s ever been. In my opinion they just aren’t very good at making real stories these days. They should stick to what they do best.

A GTA set in 70′s London would be so cool. Probably won’t happen though.

There will be no GTA 70′s because The AGent is a game that is built in the 70′s.

I much prefer them doing the game set in present times and bring the vice city and San Andrea’s Customization. Also don’t do that craptacular story that they did in IV. The DLC story was far better than the main game.

I dont care where they set it next, but I would love for them to scale it down a bit and have like 75%+ interior locations. Imagine the police chasing you and you burst in through somebodies house run upstairs, dive out the back bedroom window, jump over their back garden fence and jack a car and drive it through a shopping centre etc etc.

I love what they did with GTA IV but in this day and age we should be seeing more varied interior locations IMO, its all good having a huge map to mess around in but with nothing to do in it, it just gets stale after a while.

And for the love of all things good allow us to get into a car a little bit faster!
