Humble Frozenbyte Bundle nets over $400,000 in one day

Thursday, 14th April 2011 01:11 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The third Humble Bundle has amassed well over $400,000 of income in just 24 hours.

Updating in real time, the Humble Bundle site shows close to $460,000 earned and 90,000 buyers at time of writing. It went up by about $700 in the last five minutes.

A few very generous purchasers have taken the “Pay What You Want” theory to the extreme. Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson paid $2,000 for his bundle, while cloud gaming service OnLive forked out $1,500.

Indie developers Expired Popsicle and Team Phobic handed over $1,024 and $600 respectively, while Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling paid ten times the RRP at $500.

Once again, Linux users have been the most generous, with the average purchase price for the $50 bundle currently coming in at around $5.

The latest bundle focuses on developer Frozenbyte, and includes Trine, Shadowgrounds, and Shadowgrounds: Survivor, as well as a pre-order for Splot and the cancelled prototype Jack Claw.

The bundle is, as always, DRM-free and cross-platform, with proceeds split between the developers and charitable donations to Child’s Play and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Thanks, Big Download.
