First cinematic trailer for Risen 2: Dark Waters has pirates, muskets, Voodoo priestess

Voodoo, pirates, eye-patches and fisticuffs. That's what you'll get with Risen 2: Dark Waters, apparently, and this pleases us.

While the video posted below doesn't show any gameplay, it is intriguing nonetheless.

The Piranha Bytes-developed sequel stars our hero who is working for the Inquisition in order to find a way to stop monstrous sea creatures from damaging shipping traffic and with it the island’s supplies. The pirates know how to stop the beasties, but are being largely uncooperative. Of course, we have never heard of a cooperative pirate in the history of piracy to be fair.

One of the new features with this installment in the Risen series, is the ability for players to make use of firearms and dirty tricks, which will allow players to distract or confuse enemies. Voodoo magic also plays a vital role in the game, as you can see in the CGI trailer.

While there is no set release date for Risen 2 at the moment, publisher Deep Silver expects it to land this year on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
