Tiger Woods PGA Tour series selling faster than ever before

The latest entry in EA Sports' golf series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, has broken all launch records for the franchise to become the fastest-selling yet.

Gamasutra reports 225,000 units of the game were sold during its first week post-release.

Apparently, that's 17 percent better than Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, which was the previous record holder for the series.

Of course, a lot has changed since those days, and the figures for PGA Tour 12 include iPhone and iPad versions. Digital revenue doubled over last year's launch, and both iDevice ports were top-grossing sports games during launch week.

Other changes introduced with this iteration include PGA Masters branding, and a cover devoid of Woods' mug shot.

During its first week, players have managed 7 million games in PGA Tour 12, and 185 million shots.

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series is now 14 years old, and has seen a multiplatform release during every one of those years.
